Da Joos

Ok, continuing with religious intolerance week here at the Germy Show, it's the Jews' turn. In the musical Caroline or Change, the maid is thrown a racial insult by the young boy whose Jewish family she works for. She answers in a chillingly soft voice:

Noah, Hell is just like this basement,
only hotter than this;
hotter than all this with the washer, and the boiler and the dryer full blast.
Hell is hotter than goose fat,
oh, much hotter than that.
Hell is so hot, it makes flesh fry...
and that's were Jews go when they die.

Considering the young boy's mother has recently died, this is just a horrible thing to say. Anyways, it's interesting because according to Catholicism (in it's pure and non-PC form) this is what all God-loving Catholics should believe. The Jews are supposed to have killed Jesus Christ, so they are all evil. But you never see priests or the Vatican attacking Jews, do you? They pick their battles very intelligently... bastards.

Anyways, I know quite a few people who actually dislike Jews for a variety of reasons. Because they supposedly don't have much social contact with non-Jews, because they supposedly control a lot of money and thus have lots of power, because they invaded Palestine (after the Palestinians were planning to invade them but where surprised by being invaded themselves... touché, honeys), etc, etc. I just don't understand their philosophy; marry only other jews. Talk about a way to limit your potential love market. People are so odd. Especially Jews. And no Christmas? Come on! That's just mean! I've really never had an opinion about them; I've met very few Jews in my life, and they've actually been really nice people. Nice blonde people, haha.

Anyways, since this is religious intolerance week, they too shall be shunned. Next up, Catholics... I can hardly wait...

Catholicism in its purest form is ever changing. What might come close to the current purest version of the religion is perhaps what the Vatican defines as its views.
This considered, you must be aware of the Nostra Ætate document passed in the fourth session of the Second Vatican Council, Where amongst other things, it declares that Jews today are no more responsible for the death of Christ than Christians are.
Yes, I agree that the Catholic Church is somewhat incongruent and hypocritical in many aspects, but not in their alleged relationship with the Jews.
This leads me to believe that you're either a Traditionalist Catholic and have a Mel Gibson poster hanging on your wall, or you're simply a misinformation spewing ignoramus. And I now recall you mentioning that you didn't see The Passion of the Christ. So...

    God Bless

Your comments are very informed and congruent. I mentioned in my post that Catholicism in it's "pure" form rejected Judaism; what I meant was in it's original form. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

But in the spirit of general religious intolerance, which is this week's main theme, your comments will be completely disregarded and you are herefor labeled a stinkin' "joo-lover".

It was considered that perhaps the word "pure" meant something more ancient. However, the line that read: "But you never see priests or the Vatican attacking Jews, do you?" in the original post, implies that you're talking about modern times.

You now define "pure" as "original".
Seeing that the original founders were mostly all Jews, it seems difficult to conceive that they would damn all Jews as evil, knowing well that it was only a small part of the community that actually colluded in the carnage.

I could go on... but there's only so much fun to be had while hunting at the zoo.

I am well aware that this is merely a blog, and as such, it's an inadequate arena for a serious debate and the cavalier attitude towards the dialogue is expected.

Sometimes I just can't help myself in correcting people. I trust you understand and see this for the game that it is.
