This week, Mexico City passed a law to allows civil unions for same-sex couples. It also allows for civil unions between heterosexual couples. Weird. The PRD (crazy AMLO's party) completely supported it, and the ruling party, PAN, completely opposed it, as did President Fox and President-elect Calderon.

What the fuck? What am I doing here in Washington state? The state that just recently denied same-sex couples the right to marry?!?!?! How can a Latinamerican country be more socially progressive?????? It just boggles the mind...

In the mean time, I'm looking for a chilango husband... ;-)

Virginia, by the way, voted one more time to ban same sex marriage.

Since the seventies, in Virginia, the marriage between persons of the same sex has been prohibited. In 1997, they also added that any same sex marriage granted by
another state or jurisdiction was going to be recognized in
    Virginia.

Not only that, but in 2004, the General Assembly passed a law to prohibit certain civil unions or
other arrangements between persons of the same sex.

Thanks to this election, now they are adding to the definition of marriage as the "union between one man and one woman".

I still don't understand why people spend so much time to ban privileges to other people.
